Abstract

Data Science project is different than other software development projects in many aspects. If projects are not managed correctly, these fundamental differences might cause misunderstanding and conflicts between the teams and disable a successful model delivery.

In this round table, I’ll present the evolving data science project framework which we are using at Fiverr.com, covering the different project phases including ideation, research, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring. For each phase, I’ll present the stakeholders and deliveries. We will discuss, how the process is handled in different companies, key challenges, and possible solutions as well as new ideas.

Discussion Points

  • Who initiate data science projects in your organization?
  • What are the main project phases? who are the stakeholders in the organization for each phase? what is the associated deliverable?
  • What is the process of delivering a new model to production? or update an existing model?
  • Who develop the production code in your organization? pros and cons?
  • How do you monitor the correctness of your model in production?
